Support groups

Designed for people with a diagnosis of cancer. Our Support Groups are limited to a maximum of nine members and run for 15 weeks. New members can join until week three, after that no new members will join. This enables people to get to know and trust each other and provides a safe, confidential space in which you can:-

  • voice your hopes, fears and frustrations
  • share your ideas and experiences with others in a similar situation
  • talk about how cancer is affecting you, without fear of upsetting someone close
  • learn and practise simple ways of relaxing more deeply
  • transform how you live with cancer

We offer you a free introductory appointment with the group facilitator. This gives you an opportunity to visit and find out more about the support group and how you could benefit. In addition we can tell you about other services on offer.

Our Support Groups are:-

  • professionally led by a member of our
  • psychotherapy Team
  • limited to a maximum of nine participants
  • running during Spring and Autumn every year
  • weekly on a Thursday 2-3.30pm for 15 weeks

The next groups start 13 March or 9 October 2008. The group costs £5 per session, if money is a barrier to using this service please talk to us.

The support group takes place at Penny Brohn Cancer Care, Chapel Pill Lane, Pill, Bristol BS20 0HH.
